About the BookEastern Kentucky: A Love Story is a collection of short stories and poems drawn from childhood memories of growing up in Lewis County during the 1990s.These pieces reflect on the small moments that make up a life in the hills: walking creeks barefoot in the summer, exploring old barns, long bus rides down gravel roads, and the quiet darkness of a holler after sunset.Each chapter captures a moment in time when life felt simple, the world felt wide, and the land itself seemed to hold its own stories.This book is written for anyone who grew up in Eastern Kentucky, anyone who loves the Appalachian hills, and anyone who remembers a childhood spent mostly outdoors.
About the AuthorJoseph Howard grew up in Lewis County, Kentucky.Much of his childhood was spent exploring creeks, fields, and hills that have shaped the culture and stories of Eastern Kentucky for generations.Eastern Kentucky: A Love Story is his first book and reflects a deep appreciation for the people, land, and memories that come from growing up in the Appalachian hills.
